Book interior formatting

I offer typesetting services for fiction and picture books. My packages are either:

  • Print only
  • Print + Fixed EPUB

*Reflowable EPUBs automatically adapt to various screen sizes and allow readers to change the font type, size, and spacing of the text. This is the format recommended for text only books such as fiction or biographies.

Illustration

Fantasy maps, character portraits, interior illustrations… I am open to do most subjects, particularly fantasy and character based scenes.

I will NOT draw:

  • Explicit pornographic materials (erotic scenes are okay).
  • Hardcore gore (some horror scenes can be negotiated).
  • Hateful, racist, homophobic, ableist, discriminatory, etc. content.
  • A replica of someone else’s style.
  • A 1-1 copy of AI-generated materials (if you used AI to create examples of your characters I am fine accepting them as references).

Maps

As one of the most important elements in a fantasy book, I try to make every map unique in style to the world and story it belongs to; that’s why no two maps will look the same.

What you can expect from a custom-illustrated map:

  • No copy-paste look. Every city or landmark looks unique, often inspired by different cultures, if relevant to the story.
  • Implementation of storytelling: monsters lurking in different areas, hidden shapes and symbols that hint at moments in the story, an illustration style inspired by the historical period of the book… take your pick!
  • A unique look that will make it stand out from other maps created by AI or map generators.

FAQ

Do you use AI?

No, I consider the current state of AI-generated images unethical. All my work is hand-illustrated and custom-made for clients.

If you had bad experiences with AI in the past or you would like reassurance that the art is human-made, I offer speedpaint recordings of the design process of your cover at no extra cost.

How much do you charge?

A project’s quote can vary greatly depending on the illustration style and the number of final files you require. For that reason, the best way to get an accurate estimate is to message me and let me know the illustration style, book genre, and files you will require.

How does the process work?

Working with me would look a bit like this:

1) You tell me about your book and what you envision on the cover. If you don’t have any specific ideas, I will be happy to make suggestions. I will then be able to create a quote for the project.

2) I start brainstorming and give you 3-4 initial composition ideas, from which you can pick a favourite and tweak as you see fit. Don’t like any of the initial concepts? Don’t worry! Just letting me know what doesn’t work will allow me to create new ones closer to what you are looking for.

3) My goal is for you to fall in love with your cover so you will have the chance to give feedback throughout the process and request small changes needed in the illustration.

4) Once the design is finished and approved, and all the payments have gone through, I will deliver the final files.

How many revisions do you include?

During the concept/sketching stage, you can request as many changes as you need to bring your vision to life. Once I start polishing the illustration, you can request up to 5 small changes. Major edits like changes in composition, completely changing or introducing new elements or characters, etc, will require an extra payment.

How can I reserve a slot?

To reserve a slot, I will take a 40% deposit payment. The remaining 60% would be paid at the end of the process, once the final cover is approved. Due to current demand, I am unable to reserve a slot without a deposit payment. The deposit will be refunded only if the slot is cancelled at least 15 days before the start date. If you’d like to keep your slot but can’t make it to the agreed date, the slot can be rescheduled at no extra charge.

What are your communication channels?

After you have reserved a slot or decided to work with me, all messages and feedback will be through email.

What are your payment channels?

I use Wise to take and process payments, which allows both bank transfers and card payments. You don’t need a Wise account to make payments.

Can I book a slot if my final manuscript is not ready?

Yes, absolutely! As long as you know the cover size you want, I can work on the design and adjust the spine once the book is finished.

Do you provide a contract?

Yes, a commission agreement can be provided upon request.
